How Long Does It Take To Get Wedding Photos Back?

Did you get married recently? Are you currently planning a wedding? If you can answer ‘yes’ to either of these questions, you may also wonder to yourself, “When will I get my wedding photos back?” There are a few factors that go into answering this question, and I’ll go over those in this post.

Are your photos edited?

It should be made very clear by your photographer whether or not your images are edited. Here at CM Photography, every photo is edited and delivered exactly how I intend it to be seen by you.

I’ve spent the last few years developing and maintaining a style that I feel is true to my work and my vision, so I can only assume that this is what my couples want to see in their wedding images.

If you happen to hire a photographer who does no editing whatsoever, obviously you’ll get your photos back a lot sooner, but at what cost?

Another thing to consider is whether or not your photographer outsources their editing. Outsourcing is when a photographer has their images edited by an outside company or individual. This could potentially increase the amount of time you have to wait for your wedding photos, because it depends on that outside person’s schedule as well.

Time of year

You can expect busy season for Colorado weddings to be between the months of May and October, with September being the busiest. So, if you’re getting married later in the year and into the winter months, you’ll probably get your photos back more in the two to four week ranger, whereas wedding photos taken in July will be delivered in that four to six week timeframe.

Hours of coverage

More hours of coverage = more photos taken, plain and simple. Obviously, it will take someone less time to edit 300 photos than it would take them to edit 800 photos. So, be sure to take into account how many hours you have with your photographer.

Priority Editing Queue

Okay, Cameron, what the heck is the priority editing queue? The priority editing queue is a wedding photography package add-on that I began including in my wedding photography services recently.

The way it works is, for an additional fee, you can jump the line and have your photos delivered within two weeks instead of the typical four to six weeks. This is for the couples who just cannot wait to see the images from the best day of their lives.

This is an add-on you can select during the booking process, but it can also be added on at any time if you get real antsy after your wedding.

TL;DR

When you hire me as your wedding photographer, the typical turnaround time for your wedding photos is four to six weeks. There is an optional add-on that gets them to you quicker in case you just can’t wait that long.

If you’re hiring someone else for your wedding, just make sure that you are on the same page as far as when you’ll receive your photos so there are no surprises down the line.
