How Many Hours Of Wedding Photography Do We Need?

Wedding ceremony at Spruce Mountain Ranch near Colorado Springs, Colorado

When choosing your wedding photographer for your big day, there are a lot of things to consider. One of those is which package to choose, which most likely entails deciding how many hours you want your photographer at your wedding.

The term ‘full-day’ coverage will be thrown around a lot when photographers are describing their packages. But what does that mean truly? It’s a subjective term, but for me that means eight hours of coverage. This is a pretty typical amount of hours chosen for weddings and covers everything from getting ready photos to the dance floor at the end of the event.

How Many Hours Do We Need For Wedding Photos? | Don’t Miss The Important Moments

While you may instinctly think it’s better to go for fewer hours during your wedding to save a few bucks, the opposite may be true. If you only have a professional wedding photographer at your Colorado wedding for four hours, you may miss some key moments throughout the day. You’ll have to sacrifice time at the beginning or end of the day.

However, some of the best candid moments happen during these times. Whether it’s a bride’s parents seeing her all dressed up for the first time or crazy dance photos in the evening after everybody’s had a drink or two (or three… let’s be honest), there are special moments you won’t want to miss during the entire day.

How Many Hours Do We Need For Wedding Photos? | Feeling Rushed

The last thing you want on your wedding day is to feel rushed because you have a limited amount of time with your photographer. Limiting the amount of time you have to take photos could mean rushing from place to place trying to squeeze in all of the photos that are important to you.

But that’s not what your day is about! You should have time to breathe, relax, and enjoy the best day of your life. Rushing your photographer could also lead to unfortunate things happening like forgetting certain shots or not being able to set-up the shots how they normally would.

Wedding Reception Photos - Time To Party

Like I mentioned earlier, you may not want to skip out on having a professional wedding photographer present during your reception. This is the point during the day when most people feel a little more relaxed. The most stressful parts of the day have passed!

You never know what’s going to happen in the later hours of a wedding. Whether it be an epic dance-off or a groom and his mom breaking out into a full-on choreographed hip-hop dance. These are moments best captured by a pro who has the proper equipment to make sure it all looks amazing.

TL;DR 8 hours of photography coverage for your wedding is the sweet spot when deciding on which Colorado Wedding Package to select. This allows me to capture every little detail that may be important to you.

As always, your love is unique, and your wedding will be too. I’d love to chat and tailor a wedding package to exactly what you need.
