Bernice and William definitely didn’t hold back when planning their DIY wedding. When you’re in the midst of wedding planning, it's important to remember that the day is about you and your partner. While traditional weddings can be beautiful, they may not always reflect your personalities/tastes. That's why more and more couples are opting for nontraditional weddings in Colorado, as it allows them to infuse their personalities into every aspect of the day.

My favorite thing about Bernice and William’s DIY wedding was the music. It’s not every day you meet a couple who enjoys listening to Plini, but there it was filling the home with atmospheric instrumental rock bliss. You can create a custom playlist between the two of you and just have it play. There’s also no pressure of a huge dancefloor during your backyard wedding if you don’t want one. Just enjoy the tunes as they set the vibe and atmosphere of the day.

Another great way to inject your personality into your backyard wedding is by choosing a unique and intimate setting. It doesn’t necessarily need to take place at YOUR home, but perhaps you could find an AirBnB that could host your event. (Make sure to check with AirBnB owners before assuming you can host your wedding at their home.

Colorado is known for its natural beauty and picturesque landscapes, so why not take advantage of that by having your wedding in a backyard with a mountain view or by a lake? This will not only make your wedding more memorable but also more intimate.

Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through in the little details. Did you spot William’s HAL 9000 cufflinks (Any 2001: A Space Odyssey fans here?)? You could also create custom wedding favors that reflect your personalities, such as the personal joints that Bernice and William graciously offered their guests.

In the end, the key to a backyard wedding in Colorado that truly reflects your personalities is to let your creativity run wild. Remember that your wedding day is about you and your partner, so don't be afraid to put your own spin on things. With a little bit of planning and a lot of personal touches, your backyard wedding will be a truly unique and memorable experience for you and your guests.
